For those of you who would prefer to just paint a ceramic piece that is already made!
Also known as ‘Hobby Ceramics’, this activity was very popular in the 1960’s and 70’s, where people would get together and use underglaze or glazes to paint sculptures, plates, mugs and other various decorative pieces.
I think, as minimalistic interior design became popular, many of these hobbies died down, as people weren’t keeping as many little knick-knacks around the house.
Coming into 2024 and 2025 we can seen a surge in maximalist interior design with bold colours and lots of eclectic pieces decorating peoples’ houses again.
As they say… if it brings you joy…
We offer ‘Hobby Ceramics’ at two locations:
Our Towradgi (North Wollongong) Ceramic Studio, and also at Moist’n’Glazed Donut Shop in Kiama.
At both locations you can choose a piece off the shelf, choose your colours, and paint your ceramic piece. We then take your pieces and fire them in the kiln, then notify you once they are ready for pickup. Usually around 2 weeks later.
NOTE: Dependant on availability on the day! We generally have plates and mugs available, but if you want a specific item below you’ll need to contact us to pre-order it please.
We also offer party packs. Choose the ceramic pieces you like, we make them for you. You host your own party and either paint them with acrylic paints (if you don’t want to bring them back for firing), or we can give you underglazes to take home. Then book a firing service with us afterwards.

We use tiny treats called cookies (not the delicious kind, sorry) to remember your preferences and keep things running smoothly. Think of them as little crumbs helping us build your perfect online experience.
By saying "yes, please" to these cookies, you're giving us the green light to process some info like what you click on and your special online ID. This helps us show you the stuff you love and avoid things you might not dig.
But hey, no pressure! If you're not feeling the cookie love, you can always say "nah, thanks" and things will still work, just maybe not as magically. ✨
